8 Effective Home Remedies To Control Oily Skin Before Your Wedding

Oily skin is not a disease, it’s just the sebaceous glands producing much sebum to hydrate the skin, it’s basically trying to help keep the skin hydrated.

if you have oily skin, there are several home remedies you can try to help control excess oil and promote a balance.

1. Lemon Juice: It has properties that can help reduce the hassles of having an oily skin. Apply fresh lemon juice to your face and let it sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water. Do not use if you have sensitive skin or any open cuts or wounds.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar: Dilute apple cider vinegar and water with a ratio 50:50 and use a cotton wool to apply it to your face. Leave it on for about 10 minutes, then rinse with water. It doesn’t just help to balance the skin’s pH level but it also controls the amount of oil produced.
3. Clay Masks: They help with absorbing excess oil and impurities from the skin. Look for clay masks containing ingredients like bentonite or kaolin clay. Apply the mask to your face, leave it on to dry and then rinse it off with warm water.

4. Honey: Apart from the sweetening factor, honey has antibacterial properties that can help reduce oiliness while keeping the skin moisturized. Apply a thin layer of raw honey to your face and leave it on for about 10 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water 
5. Egg Whites: It can help tighten the skin and reduce excess oil. Whip one or two egg whites until they become foamy. Apply the mixture to your face, let it sit for 15 minutes, and then rinse off with warm water.
6. Tea Tree Oil: This has antimicrobial properties that can help control oiliness and acne. Mix a few drops of tea tree oil with a carrier oil like jojoba oil or coconut oil, and apply it to your face using a cotton ball. Leave it on for about 20 minutes before rinsing it off.
7. Aloe Vera: It has calming and moisturizing properties that can help balance oily skin. Apply fresh aloe vera gel to your face and leave it on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing with water.
8. Tomatoes: Apart from them being delicacies, they also contain salicylic acid, a commo home remedy. The acids in tomatoes help absorb excess skin oils and also unclog pores. Mix a teaspoon of sugar with the pulp of 1 tomato and apply to the skin in a circular motion. Leave it on the face for 5 minutes and rinse with warm water. Remember to do a skin patch test for any remedy or ingredient on a small area of your skin to check for allergic reactions.
