Ojude Oba is an annual festival in Ogun State. The festival usually includes activities such as the parade of the ‘Regberegbe’ known as the age groups, horse riding, and colourful dances. It usually takes place on the third day after Eid al-Kabir (Ileya).
On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, the Ojude Oba festival was celebrated. The ancient town of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State came alive with fanfare, grandeur, and cultural glamour as people dressed in different colourful cultural attires.
Over 90 age groups turned out in colourful and stunning attire. The Balogun Kuku family eventually won the parade for the eighth time in a row, and were awarded a N500,000 cash prize, sponsored by Globacom Nigeria, a long-standing sponsor of the festival.
The women present at the festival displayed the magnificence of the Yoruba culture, fashion and Owambe vibes. Their ‘Gele’ styles were mind-blowing.
