Ruth Matete and her Nigerian husband John Apewajoye tied the knot in a colourful wedding ceremony in November 2019 but they didn’t stay together.

The Nigerian singer and pastor didn’t live to celebrate the first wedding anniversary with the Kenyan voice coach. He left her pregnant with their first child.
Apewajoye was buried at the Lang’ata cemetery in July 2020 and his father-in-law Abel Amunga said that friends deserted him after death struck his family.

She said “If Baba Toluwa would be here today, we would be celebrating our second wedding anniversary. But even now God is still good. I am confident that God still loves me. All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purposes.”
