Once upon a time in Lagos, I ventured out after weeks of Lent, sipping Hennessy at “Sip Lounge” in VI. Amidst the crowd, my eyes landed on a lady in a black jumpsuit with a smile her smile that could light up the entire space.
Without hesitation, I shared my admiration about this lady with my friend. “Ahn ahn, na sweet baby girl o,” .. ‘Go for it Jay’, he said. ‘You only live once’.
I approached her table. Though she was polite in her responses but hesitant to share her number. Two days later, I found myself at a friend’s sister’s birthday party at Kali in VI and there she was again, the lady I couldn’t forget.
This time, I approached her, and she gave this polite nod, but I could see the gears turning in her head trying to place me. So, I dropped a subtle hint about our previous encounter, and boom! Recognition dawned on her.
