Paul McCartney Celebrates 12th Wedding Anniversary With Wife Nancy Shevell

On Monday, Paul McCartney, 81, wished his wife Nancy Shevell, 63, a happy wedding anniversary on Instagram as the couple marked 12 years of marriage.

Paul McCartney captioned his Instagram post: “Happy anniversary to my lovely wife, Nancy. Let’s have a great one – Paul 💘.”

McCartney and Shevell began their relationship journey in 2007 after meeting in the Hamptons.

The duo got engaged in May 2011 and exchanged vows in October of that same year in a simple ceremony at the Old Marylebone Town Hall in London.

The musician’s talented daughter, Stella McCartney designed the couple’s wedding looks for the occasion. Guests included Ringo Starr and wife Barbara Bach, and George Harrison’s widow, Olivia Harrison.

As the duo left the venue after their nuptials, Paul McCartney told a crowd of onlookers that the wedding was “terrific,” joking that he felt “married.”

Earlier this year, in a reflective post on his website, McCartney opened up about what being a husband means to him.

“I see it as just trying to be good to my wife Nancy and trying to be considerate and romantic,” he wrote, joking that he likes to go a bit overboard with Valentine’s Day.

“I completely overdo Valentine’s Day! I mean, there’s not just one card, there are cards hidden around the room, and sometimes things even spill into the next day — it’s completely silly. If there’s an excuse to have some fun, I overdo it!” he continued. “At Christmas, I go crazy with the tree lights and fairy lights — totally overdo it.”

McCartney also shared that he loves being the person Shevell “relies on.”

“I am very proud, in fact, to be ‘The Guy’ there. And I know she is grateful. So that’s my role as a husband: it’s to be the strength and the romance at the same time,” he wrote. “I don’t think I consciously chose to be that way. It’s just how I do things.”
