Royal Wedding: Harry And Meghan Are Now Duke And Duchess of Sussex

The royal wedding is ongoing and the major personalities, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry has received their royal title. According to Buckingham Palace, Harry has been given a dukedom, which is the highest rank in the British peerage. Meghan will now become Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex.

They also received Scottish and Northern Irish titles. Harry becomes the Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel, which means Meghan will be the Countess of Dumbarton and Baroness Kilkeel. The last time the title the Duke of Sussex was used is 175 years ago. However, Meghan is history’s first Duchess of Sussex.

Statement from Kensington Palace reads, “The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince Henry of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel. Prince Harry thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex, and Ms. Meghan Markle on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.”
