7 Important Wedding Etiquette Every Guest Must Know

Wedding guests are special people to the couple. They include family and friends of the celebrants. In every event, there are some etiquettes one must be aware of.

Therefore, as a wedding guest, there are some dos and don’ts (etiquette) you should know so as to make that day a joyful day for yourself and the couple.

Here are some of them:

1. Come early to the venue

True fact: Weddings tend to run late. But that doesn’t mean you should. Plan to be at the ceremony 20 to 30 minutes early. It is a very important wedding etiquette you should note. You need to be there before the couple and not the other way round.

2. Pay attention to the dress code

You do not want to be underdressed for the wedding. Even if it’s casual, always wear a dress, skirt or suit. Dress for the venue, but follow instructions from the bride and groom.

3. Do not wear white

You’ve got a million colour combinations to choose from; you don’t need to wear white. Leave the white colour for the bride alone.

4. Congratulate the family

Even if you’ve never met the couple’s parents, seek them out to introduce yourself, thank them and tell them how much you enjoyed the wedding.

5. Party well

Many brides and grooms have an irrational fear of their guests not having a good time at the reception. Give them some peace of mind by getting out on the dance floor, mingling with new friends and smiling.

6. Refrain from complaining

Refrain from complaining about how long it took you to get to the wedding or how awful the weather was during the ceremony; they don’t need to hear it.

7. Come along with a special gift for the couple

This is a very important etiquette you should know. Make sure you come with a gift when attending a wedding party. This shows that you value and appreciate the couple.
