How I met Tobi Dada…
We met in 2010 when I got into the University of Ibadan. I joined the fresher’s unit of the campus fellowship I attended- Vessel of Honor Foundation (VHF). I knew his friend Laolu more because he was very involved with the fresher’s unit. I see Tobi in church on Sundays and at prayer meetings on Friday but we never really spoke beyond “hi” and “hello”. LOL.
We will take long walks on campus after fellowship meetings, gist, laugh, and all. We got closer and closer and I remember praying and talking to some older people about him and everyone had a good report. I had some concerns though; he didn’t quite look like the picture I had in my head at the time. He checked some boxes not all but prayed about it and I felt peace within me. With time, I realized those things which I thought were important to me, didn’t seem important after all. I also started to know him much better and noticed he is handsome, well-mannered, loves God, really sweet and caring, and all the nice things you can imagine.
He asked me out on July 8th, 2013. He told me he wanted us to go on a journey together in life and mehnnnn…am so grateful to God I said YES. It’s been an amazing journey!!! Not one day has passed since then that we haven’t spoken.

How I met Mayowa Balogun…..
I met Mayowa in 2010. We both attended the same campus fellowship (Vessels of Honor Foundation – VHF) at The University of Ibadan. I served in the sound unit and part of my responsibility was to assist the fresher’s unit which Mayowa was a part of at the time. The first time we spoke was when she came to ask me if I would be available to help out with setup for a meeting they had coming up. Prior to this, I had also once taken notice of her very wide smile while she was leading praise and worship in service.
Two years passed and I had started getting fond of her and I told my friend Laolu Ogunmekan who was much closer to her at the time. The “chase” began and I tried to have more conversations with her and get closer. I soon became the choir director in the fellowship and Mayowa was a member of the choir. At this point, things got quite complicated but somehow I found a way around. We started talking more and taking long walks usually after service and prayer meetings. I am sure my footprints are all over Barth Road and Benue road in UI :). I eventually verbally made my intentions known and we just continued still getting to know each other well. Our closeness was also getting noticed and this kind of gist spreads fast in church 🙂 In no time we were already being teased by some members of the fellowship and mutual friends.
I eventually asked her out in April 2013 and she did not give me an answer. I continued to build a genuine friendship with her while giving her some space at the same time. Fast forward to June, I asked her out again and I got a huge YES :). I remember asking her to be my girlfriend and to share her life with me as I share mine with her and that really has been what these past couple of years have been for us. A few years down the line we went on vacation together in Paris where I asked her to marry me and of course she said YES :).

Choosing to love Mayowa and sharing my life with her is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am eternally grateful to God for bringing her my way. There’s absolutely nothing I could have done to deserve her. From the very beginning, I always told her I was going to marry her, and here we are. See more photos from their pre-wedding photoshoot.
