Here is how they met, as shared by Christopher:

Adenike and I met nearly three years ago on my first trip to Nigeria. She was my Couchsurfing host and showed me around Abeokuta and Lagos. It’s crazy to believe that three years later I’d be here in Amsterdam popping the question.

We started off just as friends and it took over a year before we officially began dating. Our love of travel together has brought us all around Africa and Europe and to Lebanon and Mexico.

It is still a long way until we can live together in Atlanta as the US spousal visa process currently takes two years applying through Nigeria.

It is a big process ahead, but we’re both so excited for what life has in store for us!

Their love story, by Adenike:

It was just a regular day in the market, I was heading to Iya Sule’s Stall to pick up some fresh fruits for my parents.

I heard a soft whistle and looked back.

Lo! I saw this handsome oyinbo with the most beautiful smile I have ever seen! I pinched myself and whispered softly, “Adenike focus.”

I looked at him with a stern face, acting normal as if my heart was not racing. I said to him, “Yes, how may I help you?”

Calmly, he looked straight into my eyes and replied, “My name is Chris……

I started typing our love story but realized I couldn’t.

It wasn’t a coincidence. Neither was it luck.
It was ordained by him who knows the end from the beginning. The story played out just the way the producer had scripted it to be.

It’s 3 years of friendship, growth, lessons, travels, moments, adventures, experiences, and love.

We are meant to do life together.
Cheers to forever 🥂

Adenike took to Instagram to share her experience from the proposal. Read through and enjoy!

I usually accuse women of being too dramatic when their partner propose to them. I just couldn’t comprehend how it should come as a surprise because I believe partners would have discussed this next stage of life before popping the question.

I knew he would pop the question soon.
I had chosen the ring design of my choice and given him one of my fashion rings for the perfect measurement.

I shouldn’t have been caught off guard. But dang! You can never be prepared enough for the moment itself.

Now I understand why women express their emotions differently.

“Feel free to feel what you feel”

Time stood still at this forever moment.
All sense organs immediately stopped working.

I didn’t even hear the loud horn until I watched this video!

We were on a private tulip tour when he said we need to take some good photos together. With his tripod in one hand, we moved further away from others. In my head, we just want to take amazing photos without people in it. Little did I know that I was about to say “YES” in the midst of over a million tulips.

I didn’t only say yes to spending the rest of my life with you.
I said yes to all of you.

I love you forever ❤️👩‍❤️‍👨
