Tim Tebow Former NFL QuarterBack Just Got Engaged To His Former Miss Universe Girlfriend Demi-Leigh Nels Peter

Former NFL quarterback and current New York Mets farmhand Tim Tebow is officially off the dating market. Tebow announced on his Instagram account on Thursday that he and his girlfriend Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, a former Miss South Africa and Miss Universe, are engaged. Tebow posted several photos from the happy event, which happened on Wednesday at his family’s farm outside of Jacksonville, Fla.

Tebow took great care in planning his proposal, and he shared all the details with People. He flew Nel-Peters’ family and several friends in from South Africa so they could witness the proposal and celebrate afterward. He picked a spot on the farm for his proposal and had a bench built with the date they met engraved on the front. He even created a detailed cover story so Nel-Peters wouldn’t suspect a thing. Tebow told her they were going to his family’s farm to have a belated Christmas dinner, and in case she noticed any nervousness, he said that they were surprising his dad with a new truck. Tebow even borrowed a truck from a local dealership to completely sell the story. When the time came for the proposal, Tebow led Nel-Peters out to the bench. After they talked about their relationship for a few minutes, he took out the ring (a 7.25-carat diamond solitaire), got down on one knee, and popped the question. Once she said yes, her family came out to surprise her, but there was one more surprise in store. Tebow had South African singer Matthew Mole come out and sing the couple’s favorite song, “The Wedding Song.” The happy couple just engaged on Wednesday, so they weren’t able to reveal a wedding date. Tebow told People that he’s excited to get the planning process started, but he’s most excited to have Nel-Peters by his side for the rest of his life. Photo Credit: TimTebow/Instagram
