The Olympic equestrian and former rugby player tied the knot on July 30,2011 at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, Scotland, as 400 friends and family watched on.
Despite their different backgrounds, Zara and Mike hit it off and became an official item in April 2004, with Zara even introducing the sportsman to her mother, the Princess Royal.
“Zara’s mum is a legend and her father is lovely too,”Mike once said in an interview. “My mates in Wakefield are forever asking how I fit in among the Royal Family but they are really down to earth.
With Mike’s former career as a rugby player and with Zara’s Olympian status as a member of the GB equestrian eventing team, the couple’s shared interest in sport proved to be a building block for their relationship.

While having a romance in the public eye brings its own kind of pressures, their love for sport has kept them grounded.
“He understands the pressures and vice versa, which obviously helps, but it actually started from becoming very good friends,” she said.
