    10 Body Changes In Pregnancy During The First Trimester

    Being a mom is one the most rewarding and challenging thing. It can however be daunting for many moms having their life changed forever and their body never being the same ever again.

    A woman’s body goes through many transformations during the nine months of pregnancy. Some of these physical changes are visible and some are not.

    Below is body changes in pregnancy during the first trimester.

    Breast changes: Most people notice changes in their breasts early in pregnancy. The hormones in your body change to prepare for breastfeeding. Breasts may feel tender to touch and is often very swollen. Your breasts will continue to grow.

    Vaginal changes: The lining of your vagina will become thicker and less sensitive. You may notice a thin, white discharge. This is normal during pregnancy. However, you should see a doctor if your bleeding.

    Growing belly: Your waistline will begin to expand as your baby and uterus grow larger. You body will create space for you baby to grow in.

    Skin changes: Pregnancy hormones can cause extra oil on your skin. It may cause you to have flares of acne. You may notice that your skin looks more rosy and shiny. This is often called the pregnancy glow.

    Itching: Usually women in the first trimester feel itchy in the abdomen. But red, itchy palms and soles of the feet are also common complaints.

    Urinary frequently: You will have bladder control problems common in the first trimester. Your unborn baby pushes down on the bladder, urethra, and pelvic floor muscles. This makes you urinate more often than usual.

    Food cravings and aversions: In the first trimester your most likely to become more sensitive to certain odours and your sense of taste might change. You will crave unusual things.

    Heartburn: Pregnancy hormones relaxes the valve between your stomach and oesophagus can allow stomach acid to leak into your oesophagus, causing heartburn.

    Constipation: High levels of the hormone progesterone can slow the movement of food through your digestive system, causing constipation.

    Nausea with or without vomiting. Morning sickness can strike at any time of the day or night. This often happens in the first trimester. This is because of rising hormone levels.
